Step 1: Identify your stakeholders and resources

Now that you have reviewed the Step-by-step guide (or at least pages 1-9), let’s start practicing Responsive Feedback.

Resources needed for Step 1:

(1) Download Worksheet 1
(2) Download and review Reading 1 (pdf), an additional resource with practical examples to help you identify stakeholders and resources

  • There are five steps. Each step will take you about 30 minutes
  • I encourage you to complete one step per day.
  • With this pace, you can complete each step properly, while giving yourself enough time for reflection.

Now let’s start with Step 1: Identify your stakeholders and resources.

Why is it important to identify stakeholders and resources as a first step? Hear me explain.

Before you start, I invite you to do three things. They will save you lots of time in completing your Worksheet 1.

  1. Listen to the key messages Emeka and I have prepared for you below;
  2. Review pages 10-15 of the Step-by-Step guide;
  3. Review Reading 1 (pdf), an additional resource with practical examples to help you identify stakeholders and resources.

What exactly are you expected to do with Worksheet 1?

Let’s walk through the worksheet together in the video below. As you listen, I suggest you to have the worksheet open at the same time.

What are top things to consider when you identify your stakeholders?

There is a common pitfall when we try to identify stakeholders. What is it and how can you avoid it? Find out in my message below.

What would be at stake if you miss an important stakeholder? In his video message below, Emeka shares lessons learnt from his own experience.

What are top things to consider when you identify your resources

Here, I would like to draw your attention to the word “resources“. In Responsive feedback, we use “resources” in a unique way which may be different from how you currently understand the term. Let me explain.

For the IntegratE project, having the commitment from a key stakeholder for continuous learning, a key “resource” for Responsive Feedback, has made a huge difference. Listen to Emeka to find out what happened.

To identify your resources, you are asked to reflect on how often you do a list of activities in Worksheet 1.

Why is this list important? And what to do if you realize that you lack resources for Responsive Feedback? Listen to my video message below to find out.
